Farms are from 1 to 10 acres and produce oats, barley, potatoes and flax. Land is let at 20s. per acre. It contains 2 1/2 carvaghs which pay £1.10s.10d. per carvagh Co. Cess. According to the census of 1831 there were 63 males and 42 females in it. There is a trig, station in the N. side of the townland 608 feet above low water. There is an ancient fort in the W. side of the townland which is planted.

Corlorgan

According to the census of 1831 it contains a population of 76 males and 70 females. There are 2 trig. stations, one is 625 feet and the other is 634 feet above low water. The road leading from Virginia to Bailieborough passes through the townland.

Corkish

It is let by lease of one life from £1 to £1.11.6 per acre and produces oats, barley, potatoes and flax. It contains 6 carvaghs which pay £1.19.10 per carvagh Co. Cess. The road leading from Bailieborough to Kingscourt passes through this townland from E. to W.

Coraghy

The property of Sir Wm. Young. It contains 240a. 0r. 20p. of which 1a. 2r. 3p. is water, 26a. is bog and 2 acres of planting. Farms are from 6 to 20 acres and are let from 20s. to 30s. per acre. It produces oats, barley, potatos and flax. This townland and Rakeevan are returned in the Co. Cess books as one townland. They are said to contain nine carvaghs which pay £1.19.10 per carvagh. Co. Cess and have a trig. station in the N. side of the townland which stands 791 feet above low water.

Crocknahattinna

The property of Sir Wm. Young. It contains 583a. 0r. 38p. statute measure including 35a. 1r. 17p. of water, 12a. of bog, 27 1/2 acres of rough ground and 36 acres of planting. Part of this townland is let by lease from £1.12.6d. per acre. In the S. side of the townland stands Bailieborough Castle the seat of Sir Wm. Young. There is also a corn mill in the S. side and a trig. station in the E. side.

Derrynure

It contains 2 carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d. per carvagh. Co. Cess. According to the census of 1821 it contains a population of 20 males and 29 females.

Drumanespic

The property of Jas. Waring Esqr. It contains 77a.2r.7p. statute measure, including about 5 1/2 acres of bog and 21 acres of rough land. It is let by lease of 3 lives or 31 years from £1.5s. to 30s. per acre. It contains 9 carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d. per carvagh Co. Cess. According to the census of 1831 it contains 206 males and 208 females. There are two trig. stations in this townland, one is on the E. side, and the other is in the W. side. The latter is called Aghnature and is 563 feet and the former Drumanespic and it is 648 ft. A road leading from Cavan to Bailieborough passes through it from E. to W.

Drumoosclin

The property of Sir Wm. Young. It contains 322 a. 0r. 29p. statute measure, including 16a. of bog and 1 acre of planting. Farms are from 9 to 25 acres and are let from 18s. to 25s. per acre. It produces oats, barley, potatoes and flax. It contains four carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d. per carvagh Co. Cess. According to the census of 1831 it contain a population of 64 males and 58 females. There is a trig. station in the N. side of the townland called High Street; it stands on a hill in the planting 665 feet above low water.

Dunena

The property of (no name given). It contains 176a. 2r. 4p. statute acres, including 3 acres of rough ground and 2 1/2 acres of planting. It contains 2 1/2 carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d. per carvagh Co. Cess. According to the census of 1821 it contains a population of 28 males and 28 females. A road leading from Cootehill to Bailieborough passes through the W. side of the townland.

Drumkeery

The property of (no name given). It contains 175a. 2r. 28p. including 21a. 1r. 36p. of water, 23 acres of bog and 6 acres of planting. It contains 1 1/2 carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d. Co. Cess and according to the census of 1831 it contains a population of 33 males and 36 females.

Dromlon

The property of (no name given). It contains 205a. 3r. 23p. including 1a. 1r. 13p. of water and 10 acres of bog. There is an ancient fort about the centre of the townland and also a road passing through the E. side. It contains 3 1/2 carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d. per carvagh. Co. Cess. According to the census of 1831 it contains a population of 34 males and 25 females.

Drumbannon

The property of Sir William Young. It contains 453a. 1r. 18p. statute meas- ure including 13 acres of bog, 17 acres of rough pasture, 31 acres of planting and also 19a. 2r. 8p. of water. A portion of this townland is let by lease of 3 lives or 31 years for £1 to £1.10s. per acre. A portion is held as a demesne. There is an ancient fort in the planting called Drumbannon Fort. The parish church stands in the S. side of the townland. There is a new church built about 5 chains E. of the old one.

Drumore

The property of Mr. Talbot. It contains 441a. 1r. 28p. statute measure including 5a. 1r. 26p. of water, about 60 acres of bog and 17 acres of rough ground. Farms are from 1 acre to 20 acres and are let from 21s. to 33s. per acre. It produces oats, barley, potatoes and flax. It contains 2 carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d per carvagh. Co. Cess. According to the census of 1831 it contains a population of 71 males and 66 females. There is a trig. station in the S.E. side of the townland which stands 621 feet above low water. There is an ancient fort in the N. side of the townland and also a road. Drumore Lough is 389 feet above low water.

Drumacarrow

The property of Mr. Talbot. It contains 515a. 2r. 14p. statute measure including 2a. 1 r. 11p. ?, about 70 acres of bog and 25 1/2 acres of rough ground. Farms are from 1 to 18 acres and are let from 25s. to 34s. per acre. It produces oats, barley, flax and potatoes. It contains 5 carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d. per carvagh Co. Cess. There is a trig. station in the S.W. side of the townland which stands 636 feet above low water. There are three ancient forts in the S. side of the townland; two of them are close to each other; the most Southern is 546 feet above low water. Drumcarrow Lodge is also in the S. side of the townland.

Dundragon

Farms are from 6 to 23 acres and are let by lease of 3 lives or 31 years, from 20s. to 30s. per acre. It contains 1 1/2 carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d. per carvagh Co. Cess. There is an ancient fort which stands in the E. side of the townland.

Garteneane

Greaghaduff

The property of Captain Adams. It contains 46a. 3r. 37p. all arable. Farms are from 6 to 15 acres and it produces oats, barley, potatoes and flax. It pays £1.19s.10d. Co. Cess. There is an ancient fort in the centre of the townland.

Gabolie

The property of (no name given). It contains 434r. 6p. statute measure including 16a. 3r. 6p. of water, about 39 acres of bog, 7 acres of rough ground and 38 acres of planting. It contains 2 carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d. per carvagh Co. Cess. According to the census of 1831 it contains a population of 127 males and 110 females. There is a trig. station on the N.E. side of the townland which stands 569 feet above low water. There is a bleach mill in the N.W. side and a lough about the centre called Galbolie Lough 465 feet, a portion of two others viz. Pachess(?) 401 feet, Bog Lough 449 feet above low water. An ancient fort is in the W. side of the townland.

Greaghnamale

The property of Sir Wm. Young. It contains 214a. 1r. 16p. including 21 acres of bog. Farms are from 2 to 50 acres and are let from 30s. to 40s. per acre. It produces oats, barley, potatoes and flax. This townland and Greaghrue contain 2 carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d. per carvagh Co. Cess. There are two ancient forts in this townland, one in the E. side, the other in the W. The former is 482 feet, the latter 512 feet, above low water. There is a trig. station called Millton about the centre, 529 feet above low water.

Greaghrue

It is glebe land and it is leased by the Revd. John Gumly. It contains 138a. 3r. 34p. statute measure, including 28 acres of bog and 1 1/2 acres of planting. Farms are from 1 to 10 acres and are let from 30s. to 40s. per acre. It contains 30 males and 40 females (the census of 1831). The Glebe House stands in the S.W. side of the townland and there is an ancient fort in the W. side, 579 feet above low water.

Killann

The property of (no name given). It contains 226a. 3r. 1p. statute measure, including 8 acres of bog, and 9 1/2 acres of rough ground. It contains 3 carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d. per carvagh Co. Cess. According to the census of 1831 it contains a population of 27 males and 24 females. There is a corn mill in the E. side and convenient to parish boundary. There is a hill called St. Anne's Hill in the E. side of the townland. The road leading from Bailieborough to Shercock passes through the S. side.

Lear

The property of Sir Wm. Young. It contains 477a. 2r. 17p. statute measure including 14a. 0r. 30p. of water, 8 1/2 acres of bog, 5 acres of rough land and 13 acres of planting. Farms are from 1 to 20 acres and are let from 10/6 to 20s. per acre. It contains 6 carvaghs which pay £1.10s.10d. per carvagh Co. Cess. There is a trig. station in the S. side of the townland and also a school house in the E. side.

Leiter

The property of (no name given). It contains 186a. 3r. 8p. statute measure including 1a. 0r. 22p. of water and 6 1/2 acres of bog. It contains two carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d. per carvagh Co. Cess. According to the census of 1831 it contains a population of 43 males and 52 females. There is an ancient fort in the South side of the townland and also a bleach green. There is another fort on the East side of the townland and also a road leading from Bailieborough to Cootehill.

Lisgar

Lisanalskey

It contains 2 carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d. per carvagh Co. Cess. There is an ancient fort in the North side 586 feet above low water. According to the census of 1831 it contains a population of 55 males and 58 females.

Monaghanoose

The property of Mr. Dixon. It contains 648a. 2r. 13p. statute measure including 4a. 3r. 35p, of water, about 31 acres of bog and 9 1/2 acres of rough ground. Farms are from 1 acre to 3 acres and are let by lease of 3 lives or 31 years from 17s. to 25s. per acre. It contains 9 carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d. per carvagh Co. Cess. There are two trig. stations in this townland called Monaghanoose N. & S. the former stands 569 feet, the latter 598 feet, above low water. There are also two ancient forts in the S.W. side of the townland, the most Western is 533 feet above low water. A road leading from Cavan to Cootehill passes through it.

Rakeevan

The property of Sir Wm. Young. It contains 725a. 0r. 6p., including 1r. 36p. of water, 29 1/2 acres of bog and 3 1/2 acres of rocky ground. Farms are from 4 to 20 acres and are let at from 30s. to 40s. per acre. It produces oats, barley, potatoes and flax. This townland and Conaghey are included in the Co. Cess book as containing 9 carvaghs which pay £1.19s.10d. per carvagh Co. Cess. There are four ancient forts in this townland; one is called Rakeevan Fort on which stands a trigl. station 667 feet above low water.

Tandragee

Shinan Lough

It contains 28a. 2r. 21p. statute measure and is 332 feet above low water. It is about 16 feet deep and abounds with pike, perch and roach and eel.

Cornalaragh Lough

It contains 19a. 3r. 8p. statute measure. It stands 485 feet above low water It is about 20 feet deep and abounds with trout, pike, eel, perch and roach.

Lough Skudel

Lough Scudal = lake of the basket. Scudal is the name of a basket which was used for fishing. STEEPLETON'S LOUGH It contains 19a. 2r. 29p. statute measure and is 315 feet above low water. It is about 16 feet deep and abounds with pike, perch, roach and eel. ISLAND LOUGH (John Sheridan Farmer) It contains 0a. 2r. 1p. statute acres and is 317 feet above low water. It is about 14 feet deep and abounds with pike, perch and eel.

Drumod Lough

It contains 7a. 0r. 15p. statute measure. It is 417 feet above the low water mark and about 30 feet deep. It contains trout, pike, perch and eel.

Milltown Lough

It contains 109a. 3r. 35p. statute measure. It stands 365 feet above low water and abounds with-trout, pike, perch and eel.

Annaghieran Lough

It contains 38a. 0r. 14p. statute measure. It abounds in trout, pike, perch and eel. It stands 376 feet above low water.

Drumlum Lough

It contains 7a. 1r. 13p. statute measure. It abounds with trout, pike, perch and eel. It stands 368 feet above low water. KILLISDURRIN FORT (William Sheridan) This fort stands in the E. side of Lecks townland. It was formerly used as a burying place but at present none are buried in it unless unbaptised children or strangers.

Lecks Fort

It stands about the centre of Lecks townland and 17 chains S.W. of Killisdurrin fort and 25 chains N. of Black Fort. It stands 460 feet above low water.

Black Fort

Stands about 25 chains S. of Lecks Fort. BLOMMER'S FORT (William Sheridan) Stands in Latteriff townland about 6 1/2 chains W. of the boundary between Lecks and Latteriff townlands.

Shinan House

The residence of Captn. Wilson. It stands 373 feet above low water.

Green Island

It contains about 12 perches. There is a trigl. station on it, 376 feet above low water. There is another small island but it has no name. It is situated about 11 1/4 chains East of Green Island and it contains 3 perches and belongs to Glasleck townland.

Bush Island

It is situated in Lough Sillan. It contains 14 perches and is the same as the Lough, 305 feet above low water. It belongs to Corclare townland.

Gull Island

It is situated in Lough SiIlan, about one chain North West of Bush Island. It contains 0a. 2r. 36p. The trigl. station is the same height as the lough. It belongs to Carrickacreeney townland.
