‘People woke up on the morning of the game to incessant rain that had fallen throughout the night and travelling conditions were miserable. This did not seem to dampen the enthusiasm of the supporters because from early morning crowds flocked to Breffni Park. An attendance of 17,111, the biggest ever at a GAA match in Ulster turned up. The Anglo-Celt reported that there were car registrations noted from Kerry, Mayo, Galway, Dublin, Tipperary, Westmeath, Louth, Longford, Leitrim, Meath, and every county in Ulster. The vast majority of supporters arrived on trains, some came in motorcars, and other means of transport used included buses, motorcycles horse-drawn vehicles, push bicycles and many walked’…
