Breifne Historical Society Website
Breifne Historical Society was founded at a meeting in the Farnham Arms Hotel in Cavan on 13 January 1956. It was founded as a non political and non sectarian historical society to promote interest in and the study of the local history of the ancient kingdom of Breifne. The society publishes a journal called ‘Breifne’ which is published in April or May of each year.

National Library Parish Records
This website contains images from the NLI’s collection of Catholic parish register microfilms. The registers contain records of baptisms and marriages from the majority of Catholic parishes in Ireland and Northern Ireland up to 1880. Church registers of marriage and baptism are considered to be the single most important source for family history researchers prior to the 1901 census. In many cases, the registers contain the only surviving record of particular individuals and families.
